The weather is getting nicer and the days are getting longer (thanks daylight savings!), so now is the time of year that Portlanders like to dust off their bikes and break out their hiking boots! First up on the outdoors portion of the list of 101 Things To Do in NW Portland is taking a hike/bike ride in Forest Park!
First of all, the park is enormous. With more than 5100+ acres total, there is plenty of room for just about everybody in Portland so you should never be concerned with over crowding, even on beautiful days. Next, there are trails for hikers and bikers of all skill levels. You don’t have to be an outdoor expert to have fun in Forest Park. Just take a look at one of the dozens of posted trail maps and pick something that looks interesting. One little tip is bring a camera! The park is home to an unbelievable number of birds and animals. You literally never know what you may see.
Here is a link the the Forest Park Conservancy where you can find a TON more information on the park, it’s history, the trails, and much more. I would also recommend following them on Twitter or joining their Facebook group page for info on programs and events for the park.
Cheers!
