The Willamette Heights neighborhood is best known for being situated right next to the largest urban forest reserve in the US, Forest Park. The park is 5000+ acres and is home to all kinds of wildlife, miles of walking/biking/hiking trails, and some spectacular viewpoints.
The neighborhood is comprised of a really cool mix of residential and commercial, old and new, modern and historic. Many of the single family homes in Willamette Heights are very old very large. You’ll find a good mix of styles, however, the majority of single family homes are well over $500K. Within the neighborhood there are also lots of condo, duplex, and townhome properties starting as low as $160-175K currently for a small studio home.
The feel of Willamette Heights is very comfortable and quiet. There are plenty of shops and cafes, mostly along NW Thurman, and there are several great parks basically on all sides. You can walk to NW 23rd in around 10 minutes from just about anywhere in Willamette Heights which provides a great between the calm of the neighborhood and the urban vibe just around the corner.
